Reflection on Juz’ 14 by Jamil Muhammad

The Doom of the Opponents IS Coming!

As-Salaam Alaikum!

Ramadan Mubarak!

As the Holy Month of Ramadan 1445/2024 continues during what seems to be the most dangerously tumultuous period in all of human history, I submit for your consideration that despite appearances, the victory of Muslims is closer than it has ever been. In light of that fact, what you read below may be less scholarly than motivational, but I pray you will find some merit in it.

One of the most evident indicators of the nearness of the triumph of the righteous is the congruity of the histories, cultures, struggles, and destinies of Black Muslims in America with those of other Muslims and oppressed peoples across the globe.

In Juz’ 14 of our beloved Holy Qur’an, one particular passage seems to jump right up off the page and offer confirmation to Believers that trouble don’t, in fact, last always!  The promise of Allah is real, and it shall not come back void.

Please direct your attention to Suratul Nahl (Chapter 16, “The Bee”) of Al-Khitab from today’s Ramadan reading. Specifically, we are interested in ayahs 41-50. I would love to share the entire text with you here, but Sapelo Square does not play about their word count limits, family! So, we’ll keep it brief.

Ayah 41 sets the stage with language that resonates across time, identifying persecuted populations both in antiquity and today. Just as early Muslims faced persecution and oppression during the time of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhee wassallam), contemporary populations also endure wicked acts of oppression.

“Those who flee”… Does this not apply to hundreds of thousands of Palestinian brothers and sisters, comprising both Muslims and Christians, who are forced to become refugees due to the blitzkrieg (term used intentionally) of the criminal Zionist entity and its present-day Gestapo counterpart, the IDF? Similarly, it aligns with the plight of Blacks in America, fleeing from the blood-soaked soil of the Old South, only to discover that their anticipated escape led them to new, equally brutal Northern “Souths” in the cities and towns of the East and West Coasts and the Midwest: new town, same old open enemy.

Allah grants hope to these beleaguered communities for a suitable abode in both this world and the Hereafter. This divine assurance extends to innocent individuals forced to flee not only from Gaza but also from their homes in the Congo, Sudan, Haiti, Xinjiang, and even on the streets of Baltimore, Chicago, and Memphis.

We are reminded that Allah, The Most High, possesses the power to overtake the wicked with punishment, chastisement, and an inescapable seizing leaving them motionless in their abodes. He, Allah, the God of the oppressed against the oppressors, urges us to contemplate during this Holy Month that the unholy are flagrantly present among us. They resemble each other, inflicting torment upon the righteous with what they think is impunity.  Nonetheless, Allah will assuredly bring the evil ones to their deserved doom, and they shall not escape. We need not be squeamish about it; their day is done.

Today’s reading inspires these reflections:

  1. Throughout history, racist, genocidal, imperialist settler states exhibit striking similarities. They need not all be named here, but the following are some darn good examples: The United States of America, the Union of South Africa, the Zionist Entity with its slimy tentacles wrapped around Palestine, and every European colony that has plagued our planet since the end of the Dark Ages.
  2. The deliberate division and disunity among Muslims serve as the goal of Allah’s enemies worldwide. Masquerading as innocent victims or noble statesmen, they are, in reality, bloodthirsty fiends who have earned every inch of the vast territory they will occupy—in hell.
  3. The forthcoming victory of Muslims is inevitable, and we must steadfastly cling to Allah’s promise with unwavering patience, even as we witness the unraveling of the current world order. Let us rely upon Allah, for He alone is our Protector!

Dear Reader,
You may find the language in this short missive to be “too harsh,” “abrasive,” or “unwilling to accommodate diversity,” but I urge you to wait. Wait until you witness what Allah has promised for the righteous in our defense against the wicked. Now, THAT will be harsh.

Maintain your hope, dear Muslims! Remember that, as stated in surah 16, ayah 47 of our Holy Qur’an, “Your Lord is surely Compassionate, Merciful.” Therefore, let us fear Allah and adhere to His commandments:

“The sacred month for the sacred month, and retaliation (is allowed) in sacred things. Whoever then acts aggressively against you, inflict injury upon him according to the injury he has inflicted on you and keep your duty to Allah, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty.” Suratul Baqarah (Chapter 2, “The Cow”), Ayah 194.

In conclusion, there are far too many parallels, similarities, and shared characteristics among the oppressors and the oppressed that suggest our respective positions are not mere coincidences.  On the contrary, we find ourselves precisely where we are supposed to be according to the Qadr of Allah. So, stand firm, place your trust in Allah, and obey Him in all He commands. This is indeed the hour to embrace your true self. During this Holy Month of Ramadan and all year long, let that self be a RIGHTEOUS MUSLIM.
